Sir Reginald Ansett and his transport empire hold enormous significance for Australian commercial aviation. Ansett Airlines and its various derivatives and subsidiaries were instrumental in opening up much of the air transport network within Australia.

Always an innovator, Reg Ansett developed many new ideas and firsts in Australian commercial aviation. His ideas were often stymied by government policies, particularly the Two Airline Policy, that greatly restricted growth and procurement within Ansett.

The museum, which is located in the original Ansett hangar, houses a Fokker Universal aircraft, similar to the one with which Reg Ansett first opened up services between Melbourne and Hamilton. There are also displays of Aeronautica and you can learn about the growth of the Ansett empire, an institution that has, sadly, left our skies.
