Cessna Skymaster
Profile Artwork

The Cessna Skymaster is one of the most easily recognised aircraft ever produced. The twin boom configuration is extremely rare in a light aircraft and the tailfins are a unique shape. It also has a unique sound, due to the unusual push-pull configuration of the two engines.

The 336 proved to be not very popular with less than 200 being produced. The 337, however, was quite succesful, with around 2,800 of all variants being built. The main visual differences between the 336 and the 337 are the 337's retractable landing gear, shorter bottom on the tailfins and a revised scoop above the cabin.

The 337 was produced in standard civil form, pressurised civil form and FAC and Psyops versions for the military. It has been a common sight in the skies all over the world since it's introduction in the early 1960s and many are still flying in 2009.

Cessna O-2 21368

Cessna O-2s were used extensively in the Forward Air Control, or FAC, role in the Vietnam war. Theye were tasked with directing air strikes onto enemy positions without endangering friendly troops. It was a very dangerous job and FAC aircraft drew a lot of fire as, without an FAC in the area, a jet strike couldn't happen and the enemy were always trying to drive the FAC away.

21368, call sign "Jade 07" was flown by Australian pilots in direct support of Australian troops.

A frameable print of 21368 is available at the shop.
