Helicopter Walkarounds. If I’ve taken a walkaround of any rotorcraft, it’s here. These are all my own photos. I took these for my own illustration and modelling reference. I have larger versions available, my ISP limits me to 100kb in size per image. If you want something bigger, drop me a line through my Talk to me! contact page.
I hope you find something here of use.
I will be adding more as I take them.
Enjoy!
Agusta A-109 This helo was on diplay in one of the trade stands at the airshow expo at Avalon.
Bell 47 Here are some pics of an Australian Army Vietnam War veteran Sioux, A1-404, in the Australian War Memorial and a couple of pics of an Australian Antarctic bird.
|
Bell 47G Here is a big walkaround of a Greek Bell 47G on display at the War Museum in Athens.
Bell 205 VH-NNN I had the priveledge of being taken around one of Helicorp’s assets, their Bell 205 VH-NNN. They use her extensively in the fire attack role during the bushfire season with a large belly tank and tall skids.
Bell 212 C-FKGT This Twin Two Twelve helitanker I spotted at Moorabbin late 2007. It was in from Canada for the fire season.
Bell 407 WideRanger THere’s the latest in the long JetRanger line, the Bell 407. It’s interesting to note how the shape hasn’t changed much (This chopper is quite a bit wider than the 206/Kiowa) but processes and materials have all changed drastically.
Bell Kiowa Yet another ground display at Avalon in 2007 was this Australian Army Kiowa.
Bell UH-1B Huey A2-1020 is an early model Huey now on display at Point Cook.
Bell UH-1B Huey A2-384 Another static display at RAAF Museum Point Cook, A2-384 was the first Iroquois delivered to the RAAF.
Bristol Sycamore The RAAF operated just two Bristol Sycamores, both Type 3s. This is the sole survivor, one of the airframes we have down at Moorabbin.
Eurocopter EC135P2 A nice shiny new Eurocopter from Avalon 2007.
Eurocopter NH-90 The Australian Army’s new beast of burden. The new MRH90 is the local version of the European NH-90 utility helicopter. The MRH90 will replace the remainder of the Huey fleet and take some of the logistics load off the Blackhawk fleet. This example is a pre-production NH-90. The MRH90 we have recieved has detail differences including doors and window positions. Avalon 2007.
Eurocopter AS350 Squirrel The RAN had four choppers on ground display at Avalon in 2007, a Seahawk, a SeaKing, a Super Seasprite and this Squirrel.
Eurocopter ARH Tiger This is the Army’s new toy. The Eurocopter Tiger ARH (Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter) combines the observation role of the Kiowa with the armed attack role that the Huey Bushranger gunships fullfilled.
Kaman Super Seasprite Kaman Super Seasprite One of the new fleet of re-build Kaman Super Seasprites procured for the RAN. I’ve yet to see one of these flying! In fact, the contract to aquire these choppers was cancelled in mid 2008. I wonder what we will see instead? More Seahawks? Marine MRH90s? Avalon 2007.
MD500 I came across this MD500 operating out of Coffs Harbour airport in northern NSW. It operates mainly as a charter and general utility bird.
MD500 I came across this MD500 in a piazza outside my hotel in Como!
Sikorsky S-70A Black Hawk Here are some walkaround pics I took of Aussie Army Black Hawk A25-112 at Avalon Airshow in 2007.
Sikorski S-70B Seahawk The Sikorsky Seahawk is the RAN’s shipboard ASW bird. We have 16 on strength. I spotted this one at Avalon in 2007 (Yes, Avalon 2007 again! I was very busy!)
Westland Sea King The Old Girl of the RAN, the Westland Sea King has been in service since 1975, over 20 years.
Westland Wessex I have two collections of pics here. N7-216 is a beautifully restored airframe on display at the Australian Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour in Sydney. N7-XXX is our rather sad looking bird from Moorabbin
