PBY5/A Catalina A24-88 A24-88 is a WWII veteran that now resides at Australian National Aviation Museum, Moorabbin. It was one of the famous “Black Cat” Catalinas that wrought havoc in Japanese ports with their minelaying. This bird was originally a PBY5A amphibian, but the undercarriage and armour plating were removed to get an increase in range. It must have been a significant increase, too, as the conversion took several months!
