I have been itching to get a Cessna 337 walkaround for ages. Every time we stay at the Outlaw’s beach house on the Great Ocean Road, down past Lorne, this neat little bright yellow and red 337 goes buzzing up and down the coast on shark patrol.

I have been trying to find out where it was based but I just couldn’t find it, or who was responsible for it. Then, lo-and-behold, there it was sitting in the static park at Avalon 2007. So I went nuts and here is the result. I must admit to being a bit surprised at it’s condition when I got close up. It looks pristine buzzing around in the blue skies of summer, but it is really showing it’s age. It would be interesting to see how many hours it has up. I know the people who fly it now have a Partenavia, so maybe the 337’s going?

Anyway, stay tuned to see some illustrations of this and other 337s, as well as some of the O-2s that Aussies flew with the Yanks in Vietnam. This one is high on my list.
