I'm assured by someone-who-knows-someone that the collection is being maintained and reservation work is going on, it's just not feasible to open to the public at this time. The buildings didn't even carry any signage when I was there mid-2014.

Hopefully the museum will be open again some day. The website is up and running and current, so you can at least see photos of what you are missing.
