Scale Modelling

Build-Ups

I will post builds here as they progress and describe them in The Grubby Truth (my newsletter. Why not subscribe while you are here? It's FREE!). Hopefully I'll be able to pass on some tips and tell you of new techniques as I learn them. I don't know about you, but I find the perfect scale models in the magazines a little intimidating, if you feel the same way, you might find my stuff a breath of fresh air, 'cos, baby, I can't build like that!

Build-Up: 1:35 Bell 212, NSCA, VH-NSA

This is the first build-up on the site. It covers using the old Panda 1:35 UH-1N and turning it into a civilian 212 as used by the NSCA (Victorian Division) in the 1980s. I don't know if Dragon are re-releasing this kit like they did the UH-1D. We'll see.

Build-Up: 1:32 MBB Bo 105CBS, NSCA, VH-NSL

This build-up is my first stretch. The build has started!

Build-Up: 1:35 Hughes Model 369 500D, NSCA, VH-CIY

This was the NSCA's first helo. I am still collecting info on it and I'll have to create some decals. This one is still in the planning stages.

Build-Up: 1:35 Bell UH-1B, RAAF

This will be the early Rescue scheme, silver and orange. This will be another chop job using most of an Academy UH-1C with rotors and tail from a Dragon UH-1D.

Build-Up: 1:35 Bell UH-1B, RAN

One of the lovely blue and white Navy choppers. I'm still planning this one too. This will be another chop job using most of an Academy UH-1C with rotors and tail from a Dragon UH-1D.

Build-Up: 1:35 Bell UH-1D/H, RAAF Bushranger

This is where forward planning helps: I'll use the miniguns and rockets from the UH-1C kits on a Dragon UH-1D. I just need some more M-60s....

Links

You'll find a few helpful modelling links on my links page. I have put there links that I find I use a lot. So, if they are there, I'm recommending them.
