MANDrake Walkaround Photos

I’ve called this a MANDrake walkaround for convenience. I wonder if the Army is calling the rig a Magician? (An esoteric Australian Women’s Weekly reference there, sorry.)

Anyway, this is the new tank transporter rig to carry the new Abrams MBTs. It is a Drake trailer hauled by a M.A.N. military prime mover.

The trailer has a split deck that spreads to the width of the tank when needed, seeing as the Abrams is so wide. The trailer also drops to the ground for loading so the suspension takes none of the loading forces.

The truck is a military-spec M.A.N. 8-wheeler.
